There's no better way to boost your confidence and chances of winning than to pin point the easiest, less sought after scholarships!
As a fourth year student, I can relate to putting out applications after applications each year trying to secure scholarships! I have won over $61,000 worth of scholarships and I'm here to share with you my top four categories of scholarships that are the easiest to apply for.
Let's help ease the work effort!
#1 - Religious-based Scholarships
Not everybody is religious so you will only have to compete with those within the congregation! IEC Church in Etobicoke, Canada offered me a scholarship three years ago. Do a google search of scholarships offered at mosques, synagogues and churches. In addition, ask your friends and colleagues to see if their religious center is offering or would be willing to start a scholarship fund. For example, visit this link for the MAX Scholarship Fund for muslims making an impact. Visit the UJA website for Jewish students wanting to do an exchange program to study in Israel.
#2 - City/Neighbourhood-based Scholarships
Certain scholarships' eligibility will be that you are from a particular city or neighbourhood. For example, FYI Scholarship (For Youth Initiative) was a scholarship I got because I was from the Etobicoke area. Visit https://www.foryouth.ca/ to see if other cities/jurisdictions are listed and if you qualify for their scholarship. In addition, check out CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women) scholarships; https://www.cfuwetobicoke.ca/.
#3 - Ethnic-based Scholarships
Some scholarships on your school scholarship portal or on external websites may be for those of a specific ethnic group. If you only have to compete with those in your community and ethnic group, it'll be less competition. Do a google search to find these scholarships. Check out these examples: https://jcaontario.org/ and https://www.barbadoscanadafoundation.com/scholarships-program.html.
#4 - Community Organization-based Scholarships
Lastly, check out if places in which you volunteer at offer scholarships. CAUFP (Canadian Association of Urban Finance Professionals is an example of a finance interest group and non-profit organization that has annual scholarships available for visible minority students if you attend their networking events or volunteer for them.
In Closing....
Sometimes you have to think outside of the box and be very specific in your google search to find the niche-based scholarships! Happy searching and for more information, feel free to book a "scholarship information session" consultation with us to find you 3 scholarships you qualify for!
